This group of Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta) is growing in a small field alongside our driveway. There are about 25 species of Black-eyed Susans in North America, some annual and some perennial. It's the state flower of Maryland. This link will take you to the Black-eyed Susan page of a very good website about flowers.
